Liam O’Rourke was born in 1972. He grew up in Wexford. The landscapes of his home county form the inspiration for much of his work.
“As a small boy I was enticed by the landscape that surrounds me in my native Wexford. My work is based on an idea of memory and a visualation of this landscape. When I am working in my studio, I have a mental image of these landscapes that forms my subconscious mind.”
Liam studied at IADT and DIT from 1998 -2003. He has a diploma and a degree in painting. Over the past decade he has had his work exhibited both locally as well as in various locations around Ireland. Many of his paintings are featured in private collections and has contributed to a number of group shows at Inspire Galerie. His paintings have won prizes in group shows at the Greenacres Art Gallery, and his name is a whisper on the lips of artists in the South East. Liam works from his studio on the cusp of a gorgeous vista at the rear of the family home capturing the essence of the moveable feast laid out before him.
